Pilots and followers

Pilots go first and write down what happened, including the parts that did not work. Followers then adopt what survived.

One support cycle for everyone

Pilots and followers run the same four phases, so their evidence can be compared.

Phase 1

Prepare

Needs assessment, template adaptation, roles

Phase 2

Deploy

Implementation, role-specific training, peer support

Phase 3

Evaluate

Evidence on adoption, barriers and enablers

Phase 4

Transfer

Local stewardship and replication guidance

The eight pilots

Each pilot starts with a baseline assessment and ends with a BLUEPRINTS entry, openly licensed and aligned with EOSC.

Policy implementation

LCS, Latvia

All domains · RMPs

Since 2024 LCS has used ARGOS for its FARP and SRP calls with a national template. REWIRE extends it into a full RMP capturing software, workflows and computational environments, validated inside national funding workflows.

Policy implementation

UEFISCDI, Romania

All domains · RMPs

Early FAIR planning in calls with Science Europe-aligned templates. REWIRE co-creates RMP templates with two volunteer research organisations and consults health and human sciences communities.

Research infrastructure

LifeWatch ERIC

Biodiversity · RO-Crates & Guix

ARGOS is already in use and a FAIR-aligned metadata catalogue exists, but practice differs across national nodes. REWIRE standardises RO-Crate packaging and develops exemplar Guix environments.

Research infrastructure

UPOL / ELIXIR-CZ, Czechia

Life sciences · RMPs & RO-Crates

Practice relies on Zenodo, GitHub and the Data Stewardship Wizard. REWIRE introduces RMPs and RO-Crates inside ELIXIR-CZ and automates their creation.

Domain validation

AthenaRC, Greece

Robotics · RMPs

Outputs are shared via Zenodo, arXiv and GitHub but practice is fragmented. REWIRE builds RMP templates for robot platforms, calibration and safety, and prepares a certified repository.

Domain validation

MUNI, Czechia

Biomedical AI · RO-Crates

Information is spread across GitLab, MLFlow and EMPAIA with no unified framework. RationAI integrates RO-Crates with the Common Provenance Model to build full provenance chains.

Publishing integration

EPIsciences, France

All domains · Guix

Software Heritage integration already links code and publications. REWIRE co-develops editorial guidelines and adopts Guix, starting with pioneer journals such as JTCAM.

Complete workflow

PSNC, Poland

Information technology · All three interventions

RO-Crates are in use and ROHub is linked with Binder. REWIRE extends connections to RMP platforms and introduces Guix for environments referenced in RO-Crates.

Associated pilot

ACM tests reproducibility requirements in conference tracks, without the full partner structure. Associated pilots belong to the network rather than the consortium.

Follower organisations

Followers use the validated PLAYBOOK, BLUEPRINTS and Training Programme with a lighter version of the same support cycle.
