Athena Research Center is the only research centre in Greece dedicated to Information and Communication Technologies and digital sciences, serving as a national hub for digital research and innovation. Founded over 35 years ago as a private-law entity, it pursues international research excellence with a strong focus on innovation and technology transfer to the economy and society. Athena spans four institutes and seven research units across Greece, and hosts HERON, the country's first Centre of Excellence in Robotics.

AthenaRC coordinates REWIRE and leads the project's policy-related work, translating findings into evidence-based guidance for European and national decision-makers. The center also leads one of the REWIRE interventions, co-developing machine-actionable Reproducibility Management Plan (RMP) templates on OpenAIRE's ARGOS platform. Through HERON, it runs a robotics pilot that tests these approaches in a demanding real-world setting. AthenaRC also acts as the liaison with the Association for Computing Machinery that will offer REWIRE-related tracks in two if its conferences.

OpenAIRE AMKE is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote open scholarship and improve discoverability, accessibility, shareability, reusability, reproducibility, and monitoring of data-driven research results, globally. The organization operates a European e-infrastructure offering a diverse set of public services to accelerate the adoption of Open Science and is supported by a network of experts placed in key national organizations across European countries, the National Open Access Desks. The users of OpenAIRE services include researchers, research communities, policy makers, research-intensive organizations, SMEs, universities, libraries, and citizen scientists. OpenAIRE is a key implementer of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

OpenAIRE leads REWIRE’s pilot coordination and implementation activities (WP3), coordinating baseline assessment, implementation planning and the deployment of reproducibility interventions across pilot organisations. It also contributes its expertise and services, including ARGOS and the OpenAIRE Graph, to the development and integration of the REWIRE PLAYBOOK. In addition, OpenAIRE leads the project’s communication and dissemination task, supporting strategic visibility, stakeholder engagement and uptake across European Open Science and research communities, while also contributing to training, community mobilisation, follower recruitment, sustainability and policy coordination.

The University of Manchester

The University of Manchester’s eScience Group researches and develops tools, products and practices for data-driven and computational research across disciplines including life and health sciences, biodiversity, climate change and social science. Its technologies bring together people, data and methods; support sharing of research objects; and enable automated, reproducible analysis and data pipelines through computational workflows. These approaches have been adopted by projects and institutions across the UK, Europe and internationally. The group are leading members of the ELIXIR UK, national node of the ELIXIR European Research Infrastructure for Life Science Data.

The University of Manchester eScience lab contributes technical, policy, and network expertise to REWIRE. It leads development of RO-Crate profiles for packaging reproducible computational workflows and co-leads the project's evidence synthesis and blueprint wiki. We will provide RO-Crate training and consultancy for research infrastructures and research software engineers. We will supports alignment with wider policy developments and initiatives including ESFRI’s ELIXIR and IBISBA, RDA and ReSA, the International Workflow Community Initiative and G7 and OECD WGs.

The Digital Research Academy is a grassroot trainer network making open and reproducible research practices accessible to everyone. From research software and data literacy to Open Science communication and outreach, DRA trains researchers and research support staff to do their best open work.

The Digital Research Academy is a community-centred training organisation based in Germany, making open and reproducible research practices accessible globally. Within REWIRE, DRA leads Work Package 4, overseeing training, community mobilisation and network expansion. DRA develops and delivers the REWIRE Training Programme including role-specific materials and a Train-the-Trainer system certifying researchers and champions, coordinates follower wave management and builds the REWIRE Network through events, workshops and policy liaison. DRA also contributes to project communication and dissemination. Drawing on experience training 700+ researchers across 40+ institutions, DRA brings proven expertise in open science education and sustainable community building.

Inria is the French national research institute for digital science and technology, dedicated to computer science, automation, and applied mathematics, With a longstanding commitment to developing open science and open-source ecosystems, Inria accelerates global knowledge and technological sovereignty.

Inria will coordinate the technical deployment of computational reproducibility solutions proposed within REWIRE. Beyond this facilitation role, Inria directly contributes two targeted interventions. First, it drives the adoption of Guix, an advanced package manager engineered to guarantee the exact, long-term reproduction of software environments. Second, it steers the initiative to integrate reproducibility standards into the scientific publishing ecosystem.

The Latvian Council of Science (LCS) is an institution of direct administration under the supervision of the Minister for Education and Science. The aim of the LCS is to implement the state science and technology development policy, ensure expertise, implementation and supervision of research programs and projects financed from the state budget, as well as from the European Union structural funds and other foreign financial instruments delegated in regulatory enactments.

Extend the ARGOS template into a Reproducibility Management Plan (RMP) capturing software, workflows, and computational environments, and validate its use within national funding workflows. As Latvia’s main research funder, LCS can apply RMPs across all calls, embedding reproducibility in project planning nationwide. The model will serve as a reference pathway for other funders, supporting Science Europe–aligned integration of reproducibility requirements into European funding schemes.

Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center, PCSS) is a leading Polish research and technology center working at the intersection of advanced computing, AI, data and digital infrastructure. For over 30 years, PCSS has provided advanced infrastructure and expertise supporting research, innovation and technology development, collaborating with over 1000 institutions worldwide. Its capabilities include HPC, the nationwide PIONIER network and quantum technologies, complemented by the PIAST AI Factory, part of the European AI Factories network.

PCSS contributes expertise in research data management, reproducibility and digital infrastructure, with a leading role in developing mechanisms that connect research management, software deployment and reproducibility workflows through integrated packaging and documentation. PCSS develops and implements RO-Crate profiles and their integration with ARGOS, ROHub, the OpenAIRE Graph and other EOSC services, supporting interoperability across research workflows. PCSS also coordinates pilot implementation activities, facilitates focus groups and gathers implementation feedback, while supporting training, capacity building, communication and dissemination activities.

The Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) is the main funder of competitive research in Romania and a policy adviser in science, innovation and higher education, under the ultimate authority of the Ministry of Education and Research. UEFISCDI supports exploratory and applied research across all branches of science and the humanities, funding research projects on a competitive basis.

UEFISCDI, Romania's main funder of competitive research and national OpenAIRE NOAD, is one of REWIRE's policy implementation pilots, focusing on Reproducibility Management Plans (RMPs). Building on its existing early FAIR-DMP practices into funding instruments, UEFISCDI will co-create RMP templates through consultations with volunteer research performing organizations from STEM and SSH fields. As a national funding agency, UEFISCDI's pilot experience will inform future policy considerations and support knowledge exchange across European funder networks, strengthening evidence based potential integration of reproducibility into research funding practices.

LifeWatch ERIC is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium providing e-Science research facilities to scientists investigating biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services in order to support society in addressing key planetary challenges. LifeWacth ERIC aims to accelerate scientific discovery and policy impact by integrating biodiversity and ecosystem data, services, and other research products into interoperable digital environments: enabling open science, interdisciplinary and cross-domain collaboration, and AI-driven innovation.

LifeWatch ERIC acts as a Research Infrastructure pilot in REWIRE, providing a biodiversity-focused environment to test and validate computational reproducibility practices. Its contribution includes standardising RO-Crate packaging for biodiversity datasets and workflows, developing exemplar Guix computational environments, and supporting uptake through targeted training for researchers and data stewards. These practices will be embedded in LifeWatch Virtual Research Environments and scaled across its distributed infrastructure, contributing to wider adoption within the ENVRI and EOSC communities.

Masaryk University (MU), established in 1919, is the second-largest Czech university, with around 36,000 students and 4,500 staff in 10 faculties and two university Institutes. MU is active in international projects and ranks among the EU's top universities and research organizations. The Institute of Computer Science (ICS), which is involved in the project, is one of the university Institutes with a staff of around 200 persons; it is a leading national research institute in e-infrastructures, data processing and analysis, cybersecurity and Open Science.

Masaryk University contributes a biomedical AI pilot within REWIRE’s Pilot Group A, with implementation carried out by its RationAI research group. The pilot will integrate RO-Crates with the Common Provenance Model to create connected records of AI models, datasets, computational execution and instructions for rerunning analyses. This will bring together information currently distributed across different tools and documentation, supporting more traceable and reproducible research workflows. Masaryk also contributes to the development of RO-Crate profiles and their integration with other REWIRE interventions. The pilot’s findings will inform the REWIRE PLAYBOOK and BLUEPRINTS, with outcomes intended for integration into the BiomedAI infrastructure and wider uptake across the life sciences.

Palacký University Olomouc / ELIXIR-CZ

Palacký University Olomouc (UPOL) is one of the leading research universities in the Czech Republic. Through its Faculty of Science and the Department of Physical Chemistry, it contributes expertise in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, and research data management. UPOL is an active member of ELIXIR-CZ, the Czech node of the European ELIXIR infrastructure, and has played a key role in the development of data stewardship and open science practices, including the internationally adopted Data Stewardship Wizard. 

Within REWIRE, Palacký University Olomouc (UPOL/ELIXIR-CZ) serves as one of the pilot organizations representing the life sciences domain. The pilot focuses on introducing Reproducibility Management Plans (RMPs) and RO-Crates into the ELIXIR-CZ ecosystem, building on existing open science practices such as the Data Stewardship Wizard, GitHub, and Zenodo. UPOL will test and automate reproducibility workflows, align RMP templates with the Data Stewardship Wizard framework, and document implementation experiences for wider adoption. The results will contribute to the Czech Open Science initiative, support national training programs for early-career researchers, and provide a scalable model for other ELIXIR nodes across Europe.

Publishing pilot · Overlay journals France

Episciences is a scientific publishing platform developed and operated by the Centre for Direct Scientific Communication (CCSD), a joint support and research unit of CNRS, INRAE and Inria. It supports diamond open access journals across all disciplines, with no fees for authors or readers. Its overlay publishing model combines articles deposited in open repositories, such as HAL, arXiv and Zenodo, with journal-managed peer review and publication. Built on open-source software, Episciences provides editorial tools and technical support to journal teams, supporting open and accessible scholarly communication.

CNRS participates in REWIRE through Episciences, which hosts the project’s publishing integration pilot. Working with pioneering journals, including the Journal of Theoretical, Computational and Applied Mechanics (JTCAM), it will co-develop editorial guidelines for computational reproducibility, introduce Guix to support verifiable software environments, and extend the use of Software Heritage archiving and persistent software identifiers (SWHIDs) to connect publications with their underlying code. The pilot will document implementation experience and provide feedback to the REWIRE PLAYBOOK, supporting wider adoption of validated practices across Episciences journals and dissemination through CNRS, Inria and reproducibility networks.
